The Maine is about to hit the road with Augustana--it kicks off May 12th in Dallas--so we ask 'em what they're taking, and what they would never take. Kennedy Brock gave us the rundown.

Must bring:

Computer (movies and music)
Cold medicine (it's a given that I will get sick on tour)
Extra pair of shoes (you never know when the rain will come down)
A tour guide (Gary our production manager knows all)
Guitar (can't play on a tour without my trusty companion)

Never bring:

Bad attitude
Pets
Perishable food
Priceless items ( favorite *_____*)
Things that smell bad (it's everyones air)

Heading straight for your ears are the new kids on the block; The Maine. Springing to life in January of 2007, this five piece ensemble includes vocalist John O'Callaghan, guitarist Kennedy Brock, bassist Garrett Nickelsen, guitarist Jared Momaco and drummer Pat Kirch. The Maine was determined to do something different and stand out as originals. The band did not want to follow the screamo trend occuring in AZ but wanted to play something new. They began drawing inspiration from 90s radio rock bands who happen to be their strongest influences and mixing it with their own original style and writing.

The Maine played their first show ever in front of scouts from major labels, indie labels and over 600 fans they had acquired solely from mypsace. They soon chose Fearless Records as their home and booking agent, Matt Galle, who also represents My Chemical Romance, HelloGoodbye, Boys Like Girls. "It has been a dream of ours for a long time to sign to a label. We are really excited to be on Fearless. They are a great label and are really supportive. This experience has been awesome so far," says Garrett.

"The Way We Talk is a collection of songs that revolve around the theme of communication while in a relationship and how it changes as we grow up. This EP really begins to show how we are transitioning musically and demonstrates our new attitude toward writing," says John.
